Abstract
This piece of work is an investigation into plagiarism and cultural cribbing, and its differentiation with cross-cultural diffusion, specially in relation to the textile designs of indigenous peoples, who have been conveying out designers and style houses of globe prestige, all to the detriment of these peoples and to the detriment of their cultural heritage. Under the argument of an declared "homage to Mexican civilisation," these fashion designers rely on an attempt to justify plagiarizing and profiting from the property of indigenous peoples of Mexico, without actually being remunerated financially or granted specific recognition. As will exist seen in this piece of work, indigenous designs and their artistic manifestations are the product of a long history of identity traditional bequeathed knowledge and a world view of their own, and therefore their use by tertiary parties without the consent of those peoples, It constitutes a violation of human rights and a detriment to the already precarious economic conditions of artisans, which take get more astute since the outbreak of the pandemic.
